lol anyone here have an older RX7? I hear you can do it on those, I was thinking of buying one, but I don't know anyone that has any feedback on if they can do that or not.

I know in my miata, it's perfect for heel-toe shifts, but the clutch is too soft, it doesn't pop out as fast for me. The gas pedal and brake pedal are close enough to do it, they are even designed to be nearly @ the same height from the floorpan once the brake is pushed, making it easier to blip.

lol I tried on my mom's old civic, the brake pedal is much further then on the miata, I'd say about an inch or 2 further apart. It's enough to have to make you twist your foot nearly 90 degrees in order to do it, and the gas pedal is much smaller, making it that much harder to locate with your heel.

lol we have to blip in the older F2's, they have a hewland sequential nonsync'd tranny, if not, the gears grind like mad and we get yelled @ by the instructors. lol everytime I used to hear it it's like ouch that poor car... I only use the clutch for downshifts, I don't touch it on upshifts.

In those cars, the moment you lift off the gas the tension on the dogrings is released and for a split second is aligned in a way that you can bang it into the next gear without the clutch. That trick only takes @ most a day to learn to time perfectly for most drivers that can use a manual transmission. The hardest part is being able to do it fast enough, even with the shift throw about 1.5 inches, it's tricky but managable.

lol it does do damage in real life tho, the Nascar shells are just CF, or fiberglass even, that most times the front faschia of the car is where the radiator is and in Nascars, especially, all they use is vinyl sticker to cover the radiator opening. They just take some vinyl off if it's overheating, or even add more if they need more downforce.

lol those vinyl strips are only a few mm's thick tho, when the 2 cars weighing 2,000 lbs each touch for example, that little vinyl strip can't protect the fiberglass shell / frame / radiator supports. It's not built like a tank, only the structure that surrounds the driver bro, the rest is minimal, for weight issues, and also safty issues, the car has to absorb some frontal impacts by collapsing to disperse the force of the hit. lol

We don't see it much on TV, but I've seen very light taps on the track that have bent the sub-frame structure. In infineon, it's all bumping the car ahead, there's nowhere to pass for a car that size. lol the guy was pissed, he was the owner of both cars, poor guy.

lol for the skills part, I dunno, I guess it takes skill yeah, no doubt there, but just flooring it on the guys bumper, don't gotta worry about timing a pass, making the pass safely, then staying in the racing line so they can also draft and pass.

both of these takes teamwork and yes technically is a strategy, but 1 takes more skill then the other, it also gives you more experience the more you do it, doesn't damage either of the cars, lasts as many laps as there are to race, and really is much more fun & competetive...

... while the other lasts 10 laps max if both don't crash, isn't fair to other players or the ones doing it because they are cheating themselves, and it doesn't take any skill, just follow and bump, timing a pass isn't a factor since there IS NO PASSING in it.

I'll let you guys decide which is which.

you have to be wheel to wheel if you're the inside car to control the line, if not, the outside car won't see you and wipe both cars out. I naver make passes in turns unless I really think I can make it to where they see me before they turn. Otherwise, I'll lift off and wait for a straight to draft and pass, it's safer and improves laptimes legit.

Heel-to-toe downshifts do serve a purpose in both racing and drifting. Anyone that has driven a car with a non-synchromesh transmission has to do it, when they go to a lower gear, they have to hit the throttle so the engine rpm matches the tranny rpm, or you'll grind the gears.

example: 4th gear @ 2,000 rpms = 3rd gear @ 4,000 rpm, so when you downshift, you have to tap the gas or "blip" the throttle so it matches when you put it into gear. Most passengers cars have synchromesh trannies, you can put it into any gear @ almost any rpm except reverse.

Now add braking to the equation. In order to maintain momentum of the car, and also to help setup the car to take the corner properly, you have to get the car in the right gear for the approaching turn. In racing you don't want to brake or shift in the turns, it's unbalancing the car and losing speed. You want to setup the speed, and balance the throttle through the turn, so both outside wheels are @ maximum adhesion.

All that means is you have to shift & brake @ the same time, hence, the heel-to-toe. Even in drifting, they tend to trail brake to get the traction up front, throw it in gear, and floor it while the car is still transferring weight to the front which induces the drift.

For the game I don't think it's needed, yeah it's fun to do, but it's better to try it in a real car so you get used to it. I can imagine there is not nearly as much springback on game pedals, I had to add a 10 lb. spring to kick my clutch pedal from around 5 lbs to 15 so it pops back out faster.

lol it's much more fun to upshift without the clutch too, but takes timing and practice. The heel-to-toe took me over 2 years to master.

All you need is comodo, it's free, antivirus, firewall, network traffic sniffer, and process manager all in one proggie. Having issues with an IP or Process you don't trust? no worries, you can terminate them, or terminate and block them from reconnecting / restarting. You won't need any other proggie for antivirus, or even a firewall, this does it all.

also, don't go saving files you don't trust, read user reviews, those help.

As long as there is competition to be #1, there will always be someone that will cheat to try to obtain it. If they want to cheat the system, I'm not gonna say anything about it then, it doesn't affect anyone except the ones that do it, but if they want to cheat to beat other players, then I would say something.

meh, it's just a personal choice, I think it's wrong. Draft and pass is the way it should be. If people can't do that, it shows everyone else that they only care about themselves, not about others. That's not cool with me, those selfish b-tards. I always think of others, and make sure everyone's best interests are kept in mind.

YouTube Video Response Battles - Replay Wars
Pablo Donoso

After literally years of stalling I finally uploaded my GT Replays to youtube, 1 in particular, a 2 lap session in GT3 in the complex string with an R3s GTR, on normal racing tires was posted as a video response to Shadow's GRID Drift replay. (Which was also good, nice car, but the crash killed it, I was like awwww ) lol he deleted the video response battle, BOOOOOOOO SHADOW lmfao... but if anyone else has any killer replays they wanna share, or video response to any of mine, go for it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb2Hi7OYiD4

Just be fair if you comment or rate, I would be as well. lol, I'm not gonna put it down, I'd rather point out what I like about the replays instead of saying "it sucks". Also keep in mind, the R32 in GT3 replay is 9min 42sec, possibly one of the longest GT replays on youtube that is all drifting without crashing.

Let's see um people!!!

note: can someone make the car / skin from shadow's replay? that car is f*cking sic as hell!!! It's in the "related vids" if you watch my replay.

I never noticed just how bad some of them are on the demo servers until I bought a license. I mean we all at one time have been demo users, so you probably know what I mean. There's always someone with the attitude like "well sh*t it's my server, I'll crash & ban whomever I want to", then wonder why nobody goes in them.

It's not just about that though, some demo drivers / hosts really tend to abuse it, on some "I am god" power trip. Anyhow, enough chatter, rate whatever server you want to, praise or curse, like or dislike, it's all good, just explain why you feel that way, maybe others feel the same, maybe they don't, but at least others can be aware of good and bad hosts.

(FM) - best crew ever, they were the first to really show me good sportsmanship, and always were willing to share setups. Even if someone was cursing @ someone in their crew, they didn't really ban or get mad, just saying stuff like "relax, just don't crash people, clean racing here" or something similar to that. Kudos to the (FM) gang

Shikane Drifters - I was an old shikane member, I even had the secret weapon skin. A quiet crew, not much spoken, but awesome drift skills, and always willing to help out whenever someone asked how to drift or whats a good setup. Kudos to Shikane

[TDRT] - Danish Racing Team, if you haven't seen them yet, they are totally awesome in stunts, ramps, etc. They were always cool to everyone, except cheaters, which I can relate to. lol

Fat Oil Drifting Grounds - Best demo drift server points system. Strong language will get you banned, including the word "noob". I have to give fat oil props on that, for not letting anyone get badmouthed regardless of how good or bad they drive. right on

Quote from MadCat360 :I don't know. I've only tested the FBM as I'm only a demo user. But even so much as 100 pounds would be enough to move the suspension noticeably and at full wing angle the FBM is producing about 330 pounds of force at 120 MPH.

According to Newman Haas Racing, their test center said that IRL cars can produce enough downforce to drive on the roof of a tunnel, without falling, @ around 100mph. That's crazy xD My instructor also told us the wings on Formula 2's are effective around 80+mph or more. lol the suspension travel on most formula cars is like an inch or two, that number I'm not sure about but it's not more then a few inches max.

note: you should buy the S2 license, it's totally worth it.
lol... but which FM server?
Pablo Donoso
S3 licensed
lol I'm always on the FM oval server for BF1's, and I'm like the only one. There's 4 FM servers, I wish there was a 5th one, just for FBM's, for example in like SO CITY CHICANE where it's nice and tight just perfect for the FBM. Also, everyone says FM servers but which ones? lol

(FM) FoX JunKieZ (FOX)
(FM) OvaL JunKieZ 1 (XRR, FXR,FZR)
(FM) OvaL JunKieZ 2 (FO8) <<<<< this one is always crowded
(FM) Oval JunKieZ 3 (BF1)

I never been on the SR Server so I can't comment on how good or bad it is, although SR seems cool so it probably would also be cool.

Who do I have to paypal to get an FM FBM server around here? xD jk jk FM for liiiiife!!! xD

note: on FM ovals, be patient in the first few turns lol, let the ones who are gonna wipeout do it, I usually finish in the top 5 even starting from the rear of a 15 car grid that way. lol I'm probably on an FM server while you're reading this, if it says so under my name rofl

lol noooooo thats bad for the rack & pinion / power steering to turn 100%, also your cv boots/joints if its front wheel drive will be damaged much faster. lol if you turn the race car's wheel too much, it will stop rolling and start deflecting the sidewall, it also binds the chassis. To put it in easy terms, binding the chassis is putting excessive force on a frame. Like a paperclip that is bent constantly, it will eventually snap, as will a race car, it loses rigidity, not to mention speed. lol

LFS turning is fine, lol it's close enough to the real thing for most of the ones I can say I have been able to drive, like ff's, fr's, and the smaller formulas. I wanna know what an MR2 feels like, the small F1 has a similar layout, but I bet the MR2 drifts very stable if the person knows how to throttle steer.

lol let me rephrase, the steering could turn more then 150 degreez, but when driving, it never exceeded that number.

lol without quoting everyone else, you have to think about other factors that make a car turn. Here's a question, how many tires steer the car? The answer is all 4.

Many things such as elevation, weight distribution of the car, the COG (center of gravity), brake bias, Limitied slip differentials, drivetrain layout like front engine powering rear wheels, or mid engine powering rear wheels.

Then there are the variables of the car in motion, such as how it transfers weight, braking, slip angles, tire sidewall deflection, chassis binding due to oversteer, etc.

It is a lot more complicated then just the steering settings of the front tires. In a street car, we are used to turning the wheel all the way, for things like u-turns, but in formula or le-mans cars, the steering ratio is dropped do to the time it takes to rotate the wheel. The one I drove is the Star Mazda Formula 2's, the steering never exceeded more then the 150 degrees from 0 being located in the 12 oclock position.

This is me in Turn 11, infineon raceway, in the F2000, you can see, the tires are not turned much even though it is a 185 degree u-turn with a radius of approximately 200 feet.

This is me in the same turn, bat in a TRC training car, which had stock production tires. Even with those, the wheel is turned a little more then shown above, but it never exceeded more then 150 degrees in either direction from the 12 oclock spot.

Quote from zeugnimod :This happened today and is pretty amazing for DTM standards. The race are usually more boring than F1. (added by pablo "technoi lmfao")

I love the ToCA BTCC series like Alan Menu in the Renault Laguna days. Awesome video man!!! That Audi driver seemed ltoo impatient. and payed for that later on. He didn't anticipate the corners approaching, was late on braking, and took corners either too shallow or too wide, no consistency.

lol impatience is the #1 cause of crashes in racing, not inexperience.

I forgot to mention it does happen on other tracks, I saw these 3 guys, 1 in an F1, pushing a minicooper down the straights @ blackwood, then like 20 secs later a laptime that isn't even close to what it should be normally.

Naw, a legit strategy is draft on the straight, pull out, pass, lead the other car through the apex, let them draft, let them pass, and so on...

Bump drafting is 1 car pushing the other literally. It's not something to ashamed of, it just annoys people that are more devoted on good driving practices, and fair play.

The SCCA sanctioning body will revoke anyone's race license for any class for pulling that stunt in any other league other then Nascar, that is if they are caught doing it. It is in the rules, and forbidden, not to mention dangerous.

The rule covers it like this "intentional contact with intention to gain position by means of an unfair advantage." (sorry the SCCA loves to sound like lawyers, everything has to be specifically worded or people would try to get out of race infractions by some technicality lol)

Besides, people that bump draft usually are the ones blocking or crashing others, because they don't have good sportsmanship skills, if they did, they wouldn't be doing that. I'm not singling anyone out though, that is just from my own observations.

It's an ethical thing, whether you believe it or not. To me it's just the wrong way to develop good driving habits. Jus sayin.

lol I dunno are we not allowed to talk about the VW? lol I don't know why that would be a problem though, it seems like many people are totally stoked about it coming to LFS, I don't see anything bad happening from it, but if we're not allowed to, I'll respect that wish, I just don't understand why is all.

note: i just looked up and saw "useless spam", ok lol there's 1 bad thing that may come from it, sorry if I ever did that.
